I have been told by several people that they spend more on natural health products for their dog than themselves. This is not surprising, especially considering that in 2024 the pet supplement market exceeded $2.5 Billion. Experts predict that this industry will continue to grow in the coming years, possibly more than supplements made for humans. Pet owners are buying supplements that mirror the kinds of supplements that are popular for people, specifically those for digestion, joint health, pain, anxiety and allergies.

A recent survey found that 85% of pet owners considered proper nutrition and supplements are as important for their pets as themselves. And 77% of those surveyed were willing to pay more for those pet supplements if they believed they were effective. Young and middle aged pet owners were considered the biggest group of people willing to pay more for natural pet products. The biggest seller for pet health was by far any supplement for joint health, most of which contains glucosamine. Probiotics came in a close second. Another survey found that cat owners were spending more on calming supplements with obesity and hairball control coming in second and third.
